Easter 2026 cycle

What would you do when spring is at the door and you have a few days off for the Easter break? Normally we would have gone to the West Coast, but the weather up there was not great and we couldn't be bothered with the herds of people, so this time for a change we opted for an easy cycle along the Eastern Coast, from Newcastle back home in 2 days.

(pictures are in reversed order - can't be bothered to change it and no clue why it does it)

West Mains back home – 126 km

We staid at the Lindisfarne Inn thinking we would go to the Holy Island in the morning, but realistically the tide was too late and we just decided to head back home via the known route.

Newcastle to West Mains – 145 km

This was the new bit we never did before. We got on an early train and started cycling back on the NCN route. I didn't realise how busy the bit after Newcastle would be, but still, we had the sun in our face and a long winter behind to shake off. It was good to be back on a long ride.
